Do I lose my WhatsApp?

No. Your number stays exactly where it is, on your phone, in the WhatsApp Business app you already use. Thirdhand connects alongside it — it does not replace it.

Do my customers see anything different?

No. They message the same number they always have. They cannot tell whether Thirdhand or you answered unless the reply says so.

What happens to WhatsApp Web?

Connecting unlinks WhatsApp Web, Desktop, and WearOS once, during setup. You can relink the ones WhatsApp supports straight after.

I'm on personal WhatsApp — can I use this?

You need the free WhatsApp Business app first. Switching keeps your number and every chat — it takes a few minutes, and we walk you through it.

What if I want to reply myself?

Reply from your phone, like normal. Thirdhand sees your reply and steps back — it never sends a second answer on top of yours.

How it works

What happens when it doesn't know an answer?

It drafts a reply and sends it to you for approval instead of guessing. One tap and it goes out — nothing reaches a customer unchecked when it's unsure.

Will it pretend to be human?

No. It tells new customers it's an automated assistant and offers to connect them to you directly, anytime they ask. That's a WhatsApp requirement, and it's honest too.

What if it makes a mistake?

Anything it isn't sure about waits for your approval before it sends. If something still slips through, you can always jump into the chat and correct it yourself.

Does it work after hours?

Yes — evenings, weekends, while you're on a job. That's the point: customers get an answer whether or not you're free to give one.

What happens when I hit my limit?

Thirdhand tells you before it happens — it never goes silent mid-conversation with a customer. You can upgrade to keep answering automatically, or wait for the next billing month.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. There is no lock-in contract — cancel whenever you like and you will not be billed again.

Annual discount?

Pay yearly and get 2 months free, on either plan.

What counts as a "message handled"?

Each customer message Thirdhand reads and responds to counts as one. Thirdhand doesn't count messages you send yourself from your phone.

Data & privacy

Where does my customers' data go?

Thirdhand stores messages and booking details securely and uses them only to run your assistant — never sold, never shared for marketing.

Is this POPIA compliant?

Yes. Thirdhand acts as the operator of your customers' data under POPIA — you stay the responsible party, and we process it only on your instructions, kept secure and confidential.

Can I export/delete my data?

Yes, anytime, from your account settings. Thirdhand keeps invoice records for the period SARS requires, even after you close your account.

How long does setup take?

About 10 minutes, done once, from your own phone.

What do I need before connecting?

The WhatsApp Business app installed on your number, active for at least 7 days, and a few minutes to confirm the connection on your phone.
